Probably about once a month, I sit down in front of my computer, pull up the browser, and stare blankly as the cursor blinks in the address bar. I then go to WordPress, set up an account, and spend about an hour completing work that amounts to me banging my head on the keyboard. At that point, I run over to Blogger, even though I know it has a terrible user interface, in blind hope that it will have magically transformed into an appealing alternative to WordPress. It never does. I come back to WordPress- sometimes going so far as to click on “add new”- and once again stare at white space until I decide I have nothing to say and delete the site.
Well, if any of you know me, you know that this conclusion is patently incorrect. I always have something to say (even if it’s in my best interest to shut up), so this writers block thing is really just a whole lot of lazy. However, given the fact that I’ve been perpetually clogging up everyone’s Facebook stream with a lot of nonsense these days (stupid politicians and their stupid debt ceiling), I decided it was time to stop putting it off.
I’m blogging again. And that’s weird.
Why? Well, let’s think about this. If any of you know my blogging history, you know it’s been a little bizarre. I started in 2007 as part of a speech initiative I was doing, which then turned into something like a public diary, which became a work blog, which became an afterthought. I have a bad habit of over-sharing. Hopefully I can avoid that here.
So what will I be blogging about? I’d say you can fairly anticipate comments on politics, social media, pop culture, and life in general. I won’t make any promises on length. Sometimes it will be a few sentences, sometimes it will be a few thousand words. I promise to try not to put anyone to sleep, but given the fact that I’ve been working so much lately that I feel like the walking dead…. well, I can’t even promise I will be awake by the end of the post.
Fair warning- my language might not always be great. I have the mouth of a sailor, and while I try to keep the profanity to a bare minimum on the interwebs, I can’t always help it. Another warning- I am going to offend you. It may not happen today, or tomorrow, but it will happen. My hope is that you will not run away from it. I don’t want you to verbally eviscerate me, either, but I do enjoy a debate, so please, feel free to comment on any post.
Alright, well, that’s where we stand. Buckle up. We’ll see if I can make it past a week with this.
